Application of oxidized wax as matting agent
The application of oxidized wax as a matting agent is that after the coating construction, the wax in the coating will volatilize and precipitate through the solvent to form fine crystals, which will suspend on the surface of the coating film to scatter light and form a rough surface, thus playing the role of the matting agent. High density oxidized polyethylene wax not only has a good matting effect, but also gives the coating good water resistance, damp heat resistance, scratch resistance, antifouling and good feel. These scratch resistances are beyond the reach of pigment matting.
The main functions of oxidized wax in solvent based coatings are matting, anti precipitation, thixotropy, good smoothness and processability, and metal positioning. In the case of fine powder, high temperature can be prevented by adding it to the coating. The oxidized wax will dissolve at high temperature. Because it is contained in the solvent, it will precipitate when cooling and become large particles.
Oxidized wax is often used as a matting agent:
1. Nitro varnish.
2. Acid cured varnish.
3. Polyurethane varnish.
4. In polyester varnish, high-quality flat varnish is manufactured.
Oxidized wax
One of the main reasons for scratches, wear, grinding, marks, friction and scratch resistance is to reduce the friction coefficient of the coating surface. If the object contacts the coating surface, the sliding tendency will be greater than the damage tendency. In this respect, polyethylene wax is similar to silicone oil, but the former exists on the surface of the coating as a precision dispersion particle.
The oxidized wax lotion diluted with arbitrary proportion of water has no layering, intermittent milk, no caking, acid resistance, strong alkali, hard water, strong water solubility, stable lotion, long shelf life, high solid content and good dispersivity.
High density polyethylene wax is a non-ionic smoothing agent, giving smoothing effect, plasticizing fiber appearance, and significantly improving the wear resistance of fiber. After trial use on cheese, oxidized wax can improve the breaking resistance, elongation and friction coefficient of cheese. After application, cheese and knitted fabric can bring the following advantages:
Only a small amount of wear resistance is required. Scratch resistance Information about wood paint and other decorative materials is very important, especially about paint.
Oxidized wax can greatly reduce the grinding tendency caused by friction and adhere to the durability of low gloss, which is often required in applications. In the case of alkyd varnish, when the amount of polyethylene wax is 1.5%, the abrasion resistance of the film is 2 times, while when the amount of oxidized wax is 3%, the abrasion resistance is 5 times.
If metal objects touch the coated product, they will leave black marks on the coating. Adding polyethylene wax to the film can reduce this tendency, and the mark can be easily erased. The function of polyethylene wax depends on the type and specification of polyethylene wax, final particle size, ability to transfer to the coating surface, coating composition, performance of coating substrate, construction and application methods, etc. In addition to solvent based coatings and inks, polyethylene wax is also used as an additive in water-based coatings and inks.
The above is the application of oxidized wax as a matting agent.
